Kiambu Fentress, Director of Development

Kiambu Fentress is one of the most well known and respected coaches in the Nashville area. Kiambu graduated from Ensworth High School and continued his career at Vanderbilt University, contributing to the 2019 SEC Tournament Championship and eventual NCAA National Championship.

In 2021 Kiambu transitioned from player to coach and joined the Philadelphia Phillies as an infield coach in the minor league ranks.

Kiambu is involved in the Make A Play Foundation, and is a founder of digital content series The Two Percent.

Royal Hobson, Program Coordinator

Royal Hobson is a Nashville native and 2019 graduate of East Nashville High School. Royal continued his baseball career at Columbia State Community College, then later transferred to D2 Christian Brothers University.

As a senior in 2024, Royal hit .333 and was top 5 in the country across all D2 programs in stolen bases, leading to his selection to the Gulf South All Conference Team.

Royal is available for individual and group instruction that may include hitting, defense, or speed and agility.

Jackson Campbell, Catching Coach

Jackson Campbell was a fixture behind the plate for the Belmont Bruins from 2018-2022. Along with being named as a team captain for his junior and senior seasons, Jackson was a three time nominee for the Buster Posey Catcher of the Year award. In Jackson’s senior year he was ranked in the top 30 of all catchers by D1Baseball.com.

Joshua South, Pitching Coach

Joshua South was a four year starter for the Belmont Bruins. A native of Cookeville, TN, Joshua was a four time all conference selection and is the only pitcher in Belmont history to be named as a two time preseason pitcher of the year. After graduating, Joshua was selected to the first year of the MLB Draft League and later played with the Savannah Bananas. Joshua is available to provide individual and small group pitching lessons.

Collin Bosley-Smith RHP Lipscomb University

Collin Bosley-Smith is a right handed pitcher from Washington D.C. In high school Collin was two time Gatorade State Player of the year and named the top pitcher in DC by Perfect Game.

After high school Collin spent three years at Duke University, earning his undergraduate degree in Biology.

Collin transferred to Lipscomb University with two years of eligibility remaining, and is now pursuing a Masters Degree in Exercise Science and Human Performance.

Joey Mitchell LHP Lipscomb University

After a successful high school campaign at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Joey Mitchell continued his career at the powerhouse Walters State Community College.

In junior college, Joey amassed a 9-1 record with 73 strikeouts in 60 innings pitched while helping lead his team to two straight JUCO World Series appearances.

Joey is now entering his final year at Lipscomb University and is looking forward to a strong senior season.

Travis Stapleton, Catching Coach

A native of Clermont, FL, Travis was a standout high school player before continuing his college career.

At Polk State Community College Travis earned First Team all conference and all state honors, hitting .321 and fielding .989 in 50 starts his sophomore season. After JUCO, Travis transferred to Lipscomb University where he finished his career and earned his undergraduate degree.

Chris Botsoe, Development Coordinator

Chris is a native of Chicago, with a college career that included stops at Louisville, Iowa Western Community College, and Eastern Kentucky University.

Chris began coaching immediately after his playing days, with time as a Graduate Assistant at Eastern Kentucky, and as an assistant at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

For the past three years, Chris has served as an area scout with the Oakland A’s, covering Tennessee, Alabama, and the Florida Pan Handle.

Chris has seen the best players in the region, and is at Hit City to help you be one of those players.
